It went well. Hard to know if I'll get it or not, but overall I think I did a good job of making a case for myself. Should hear in the next few days if I got it. So keep those fingers crossed!

It's been going really, really, well, which is-- well, not a surprise really, but much more than I hoped. My last job beat me down, my best efforts bringing nothing but criticism. So it feels really, really good to get "thank you" and "you do great work" and "I'm definitely on your team" from people who could potentially be my boss. Everyone is very friendly and supportive, which is great, and the work is interesting, although of course I'm only doing very low-level stuff at the moment.

But I'm still not getting my hopes up too high. As you've seen the last few months, I have just had too many "sure things" turn out to be anything but. I'm just grateful to be making a little money, gaining a little more experience (I learned how to create a fillable self-calculating PDF form the other day, complete with javascript, and am getting used to Windows 7 and Office 2010, both of which I haven't been able to use because I can't afford them) and a little bit of a boost to my self-esteem, and doing something productive for the first time in months. And if I get it, well, all the better. I can think of much worse places to land.

So tomorrow at 8:30 am MST I'm interviewing to go permanent. Think of me then, will you?

FINALLY!

I have a temporary job! It's only going to be for 6-8 weeks, but it's to cover for two positions that they're currently hiring for, and I'm certainly in the running to be hired permanently in one of them. I got it through my cousin, who works in the same department and thought of me when her boss asked if she knew anyone who could do it. It's with the state department of education, so great benefits, and the pay rate is significantly higher than what I've been making. Crossing fingers and saying prayers that it goes permanent, but at this point I'm just happy to have a little bit of money coming in to cover my bills, so I'm not relying on my folks for every single thing I do.

YAY!!

In other news, DH2 was FABULOUS. I've seen it twice and want to go again. Saw The Music Man at the Utah Shakespeare Festival last week (using the last of my Christmas/inheritance money) and it was AWESOME. The family plans on going to see it later this summer, and I can't wait to see it again. And that's about it from me. :P

I had a first-round interview for Dream Job on Friday. Interviewer indicated that they would be continuing first-round interviews on Monday, so I could expect a call Tuesday or Wednesday if I made it to the next round.

I didn't get a call on Tuesday. Nor on Wednesday. I was a quivering bundle of nerves all day, both days. Finally, at 4:45 PM yesterday, I e-mailed interviewer to find out what the status was. She replied that she was doing a final first-round interview shortly, and I'd hear tomorrow.

She just called. I made it to the next round! Nerves temporarily suspended.

Interview is tomorrow at noon MDT. Thoughts and prayers for me at that moment would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi guys. I haven't posted for a while because, frankly, my life sucks and I don't feel like writing about the various ways in which is does. But today I got some news on the job front, and it's ridiculously exciting news, but it's not a sure thing and I really, really, don't want to jinx it either by getting my own hopes too high or getting yours too high. So I'm just going to say that I could really use your thoughts and prayers right now, because something I've been hoping for for almost two years now might actually become a reality and I want it so bad it hurts.

So thoughts and prayers would be appreciated. Greatly.

YES, I CAN!!

Just got a job offer. And accepted it, of course. I'll be working as a receptionist/general office guru for a small CPA firm (3 CPAs). Starting tomorrow. Same salary as I was making at my previous position. Benefits after 90 days. Must take crash course in Quickbooks (have taken general overview course, but have never used it in actual practice).

GUYZ. I HAVE A JOB. OH, FRABJOUS DAY!!!

Number of resumes submitted: 12

Number of responses recieved: 2

Number of interviews had: 1

*sigh*

One of the responses called for an interview, but then called again the next day and cancelled it. The other one I actually had an interview at a dentist's office, and I think it went pretty well, but I haven't been called back for a second interview. I'll call them tomorrow (which will be a week from the interview) to see if the position's been filled yet or not, and to let them know I'm still available and interested.

And today I've got a bad cold and feel terrible. So I only applied one more place (for a podiatrist's office, and I would have applied for more except there haven't been any good jobs posted since Friday) and checked on whether or not I'm going to get paid for my accumated vacation (looking like the answer is no) and then played around on the internet all day long. And I've hardly eaten anything because nothing tastes at all good. Gah.

Oh, I guess I've read a few chapters of thesis-related stuff. Hopefully I'll feel well enough tomorrow to do more. I mean to put all this free time to good use. Yes, precious.

On the other hand, I have successfully made [livejournal.com profile] connielane into a Doctor Who fan. Go me. :P

  • I woke up far too early (8:30) despite my best intentions of being lazy today. It seems I am now incapable of sleeping in. Oh, well. More time to get stuff done.

  • I applied for unemployment
  • I updated my resume
  • I found a few more connections on LinkedIn (thanks for the tip, B.K.) and even sent a message to my former manager at Deseret Book
  • Asked one person to be a reference
  • Applied by e-mail for 4 jobs and by fax for 3 more

Stuff I still need to do:

  • Laundry
  • Break down boxes from the new bookshelves I've put together, so there's room for one more
  • Move computer desk, computer, and as many of my books as possible back into my room
  • Figure out something fun to do tonight, because it's my parent's 30th anniversary (congrats, folks. :P) and my sister is working so otherwise I'll be all alone
  • Look for more places to apply
  • Contact 2 more people for references

Keeping busy is at least keeping me from getting too depressed. So, I'll stay busy.
