Meeting celebrities redux
Mar. 21st, 2004 10:20 pmSo. Yesterday I dragged my Ravenclaw costume out of the closet (ironing the skirt, which had fallen on the floor) and hied myself to Jordan Commons to meet up with SQ gals and HPfGU peeps.
susy_gwen picked me up, and we arrived more or less on time at the snake statue in front of the Mayan, where we found
kelleypen and
fellytone_k8, as well as
kellypen's daughter and son. Shortly thereafter we discovered Dicentra,
andmore, and
stmarysalice sitting in the shade (and boy, I don't blame them. I didn't have my sweater on 'cause it was so dang hot Saturday). We had to wait for a few more minutes for
lilac_bearry to show up, but when she did we went over to China Lily, where a good time was had by all.
After we finally got all the bills paid, we treked back over to the theatre area and met up with Grannybat at the entrance, then proceeded to get in line, which was not bad at all, really. There were about as many people ahead of us as there were when we met Andy Serkis, but it never really got longer than that (and considering that we were almost at the front of the line for Andy Serkis, that's not so bad). The celebrities had taken a break when we got there, but it didn't take long for them to come back out, and I thought I was gonna DIE when I saw them-- really them! Fred and George and Seamus and Neville!
While we were waiting in line, people in really nice Star Wars costumes worked the crowd, keeping us occupied. A girl in a Jedi costume asked us Harry Potter trivia, and of course we knew all the answers. She obviously wasn't a really big HP fan, though, 'cause she mispronounced half the stuff. Oh, well. When Darth Vader came up and said "Your puny magic is no match for the power of the Dark Side of the Force," I shrugged, pulled out my wand, and yelled "Avada Kedavra!" Unhappily he didn't play along. :P
In the meantime
fellytone_k8 was using her video camera to great advantage. She'd hold it up and yell "Hey, James! Wave at the camera!" and he WOULD!! When we finally got to the point where we could actually talk to them, she did a mini-interview with each of them. I believe watching the video will be added to the
wahleecon itinerary. :D
Anyway, the kids themselves were all very nice, sweet, and down-to-earth. Devon Murray was probably the most talkative, and while the poor kid is rather short, he was also absolutely adorable. I felt bad that I didn't have enough money to get all of the autographs, 'cause they were all so nice. Devon posed for a pic with me, though. I shall have to finish my roll so I can get them developed. Lilac had put down her copy of her filk while she adjusted her camera, etc., and Devon looked at it. We explained what it was, and he seemed to think it was really cool.
As I said before, I got Matthew Lewis' autograph. He was actually rather quiet, but a total cutie anyway. I posed for a pic with him, and told him I can't wait to see him in Order of the Phoenix, 'cause Neville ROXed in that book. He smiled at that.
Got a pic with James and Oliver Phelps, as well. Man, those boys are TALL. And completely adorable. Oliver was the quieter of the two, but they were both very nice. I apologized for making them get up and down to take pictures with us-- told them it must be a major pain-- but they smiled and said they didn't mind at all. So cool!
I didn't really stop to talk to the other people. I mean, Sala Baker is great, but what can you say to someone who only partially appeared on screen? He looked really nice, though. I think he and
gaidin_prime would get along great. :P
So, that's about it. We took a few more pics and chatted a bit more, and then I came home and collapsed. Waiting in line is more exhausting than one would think!
Makes me even more excited for
wahleecon, though. Will be able to see everyone again!
