Random SQ love
Jun. 27th, 2007 10:20 amI must admit to having been a very, very bad SQer lately. It's even worse that I'm a Ghost-- because I tend to not even visit SQ much anymore. I've gone for months without even logging in. This was partly because I've been busy, and partly because, frankly, at this point I'm done with theorizing and am content to just wait and see what happens. (I'll note that this state began rather soon after HBP came out, so it's not a new phenomenon). I'm also avoiding writing any fanfic because if I write anything, it should be my thesis (and at this point I might as well wait on my Albus fic until I can be sure that I don't contradict canon :P). So, yeah. Most of the discussions at SQ have been uninteresting to me lately.
But today I got a notification that I had a PM, so I went over to read it-- and stuck around to catch up a bit. I haven't even listened to any of the new SQodcasts (haven't opened up iTunes to download any :P), but I had great fun reading the forum. I poked my head in Kreacher's Cupboard and caught up on the latest arguments about the filters (personally, I love them, but I can see why some people don't), and just-- generally remembered how awesome the Quill is. It's much, much bigger than it was when I first started posting there (which I didn't actually do until they implemented the Invision forums rather than the EZ board), but really, it's still the same old Quill. A place where having fun is encouraged (within reason). A place with a feel of community-- which means lots of in-jokes and general wackiness. A place where the like-minded gather, without having to worry (too much) about offending people.
And when DH comes out, I can't imagine wanting to go anywhere else (other than my flist) to share the experience.
So. . . if it's been a while since you visited the Quill, why not check it out? I'm sure you'll find something that will help you remember why you loved it in the first place-- whether it's the Snape thread, the SQodcasts, the off-topic forums, or the book groups. Or something else entirely! Share the Quill love! It's still the best HP community out there.
