To my coworkers:

RELAX. Yes, it sucks that they didn't do direct deposit today. It sucks even more that they've discontinued it for the foreseeable future, and didn't let us know about it until this morning, when it didn't show up in our accounts. And it sucks most that even though the checks were supposed to be here by 3:00 PM, it's now quarter to 4 and they're not here yet.

I want my check just as much as you do. But stop looking at me like I'm hording your money all for myself, or acting like it's all my fault. It's not. No, I don't know why they're not here yet. No one tells me anything. I'm just the receptionist.
