I think I just lost all the papers, notes, and readings from my graduate program. Along with tons of other stuff I had backed up on my external harddrive. Which Norton Ghost just apparently overwrote, even though we told it not to.

I am trying very hard not to panic.

Hope dawns. . .

It took 6 1/2 hours to determine what was still on the drive, and it will take another 1 1/2 hours to recover the files, but. . . the recovery program found something. Lots of somethings. We won't be able to tell for sure what we've got and what we don't have until it's done, and all the files have lost their filenames so I'm going to have to go through them one by one and see what they are but. . . I think we've got it.
