Nostalgia-- a new posting series
Jun. 2nd, 2010 11:00 amSo I'm turning 30 on June 4. I long ago decided to throw myself a gigantic 80s themed party (on Saturday, and you're all invited, and gosh darnit, I need SOME people to show up, otherwise it'll turn into my ill-fated Junior Prom Pity Party at which only one person showed up, and she was a sophomore and crazy to boot), and as I've been researching fantastic food ideas (Pop Rocks! Kool-Aid! Tato Skins!) and decorating ideas (I hit up the DI and scored some sweet Phil Collins, Roxette, and Rod Stewart cassettes, and I plan on digging out the old 80's toys and Baby-Sitters Club books that I still have in storage) and entertainment options (you better believe I'll be firing up our still-working Atari 7800) and cake ideas (I almost went for He-man, but ultimately decided on a Cabbage Patch Kids cake with extra Pac-man cupcakes), I've been hit with an overwhelming wave of nostalgia. And what better way to indulge in nostalgia than to share it? :)
So I decided to make 30 posts, one per day for the month of June (for obvious reasons; and since I missed yesterday due to unforseen circumstances -- I forgot-- you get two today), each dedicated to something I knew and loved growing up. It might be something you remember, it might be something you've never heard of-- but I hope you enjoy this trip through my past.
We're going to start off good.
( The story you're about to see is a fib, but it's short. )
Don't you feel smarter?
